Our story
Three years ago Paul was living in San Francisco, ready for a change of scenery and eyeing a move to New York. He set his location on the dating app Hinge to NYC in advance of his move. Over Christmas 2018, he was lucky enough to match with a beautiful girl named Katherine.
For two months they texted each other until Paul had finally moved to New York. They had their first date one chilly Friday evening in February at a restaurant in the West Village called Bell Book & Candle. Paul made sure to bring a little piece of San Francisco with him and gave her a bar of Dandelion chocolate that she still has.
They quickly fell in love, explored the city together and even quarantined in Massachusetts together before getting engaged on the beach at Gurney's in Montauk in April 2021. To this day Katherine loves to say she snatched Paul right off the plane from San Francisco.

The Upper East Side
Ideas for things to do in the Upper East Side between the ceremony and reception.
Depending on the length of the ceremony, there will be at least an hour until the reception begins nearby. Fortunately, there's a myriad of things to do, eat, see and explore in the neighborhood.
You're welcome to return to your hotel, but please keep in mind any transit time as NYC traffic is unpredictable.
Get a snack.
Swing by Levain Bakery for world-famous cookies, Breads Bakery for the best black and white cookie in NYC or Ladurée for their tasty Parisian macarons. If you're in the mood for a cold treat, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream and Anita La Mamma del Gelato are not far. And if you need a caffeine fix, Maman is a lovely cafe with great coffee and pastries.
Grab a drink.
There's plenty of options for bars in the UES, but a few include The Penrose, Eli's Night Shift and Bondurants. For more upscale options there's Mark Bar at The Mark Hotel as well as Bemelman's Bar at the Carlyle Hotel, but you may need to check for reservations as they can get busy.
Stroll through Central Park.
You'd need a day to see everything in Central Park (map PDF) from Sheep Meadow to Umpire Rock, Shakespeare Garden, Belvedere Castle, The Central Park Zoo, Strawberry Fields, Great Lawn and more—but you can visit Bethesda Fountain and walk around the lake next to our reception venue, The Loeb Boathouse, and finish with a cocktail there.
Enjoy the architecture.
Do it for the gram and keep your eyes up as you stroll down one of the most scenic streets in the UES: 62nd street starting in Central Park and going East. Admire the mansions, grand stoops, lovely brownstones, and ornate architecture. 72nd and 79th street are great as well.
Relax on the waterfront in Carl Schurz Park.
If you're up for a walk, visit the scenic Carl Schurz Park along the East River. This waterfront park and promenade overlooks Queens and Roosevelt Island. It's also the home of the 18th-century Gracie Mansion where the mayor lives.
See the shops on Madison Ave.
Madison Avenue is as fancy as it gets and there's dozens of stores lining Madison Ave between 60th to 84th Street.
Directions
Getting to the Boathouse
Central Park is closed to traffic. Whether by car or by foot, to reach The Boathouse, you enter the Park at Fifth Avenue and 72nd Street and follow the traffic road to the right. It is a very pleasant walk and should take between three and six minutes.
Small parking garages may be found as close as 72nd and 73rd off of Fifth Avenue but we suggest using the Metropolitan Museum’s garage at 80th Street and Fifth Avenue. It is large enough so that you will always find a space and it is open 24 hours.
Our shuttle service will be available at approximately fifteen minute intervals to take guests to and from Fifth Avenue and The Boathouse. It will stop at the corner of 72nd Street and at 80th Street near the Metropolitan Museum’s garage.
Look for the shuttle or a van with our name!
Attire
Black tie optional.
